邓秀新

男,1961年11月生,湖南宜章人,新中国培养的第一位果树学博士,华中农业大学教授,博士生导师,国家现代农业柑橘产业技术体系首席科学家,“园艺作物种质资源研究与遗传改良”国家自然科学基金创新研究群体学术带头人。1991年获国务院“政府特殊津贴”,1996年获国家杰出青年科学基金,2001年受聘教育部长江学者特聘教授,2007年当选中国工程院院士。现任华中农业大学校长,中国科学技术协会第九届全国委员会副主席,中国工程院农学部主任,农业部果树顾问专家组组长,国务院学位委员会委员,第十二届全国人大代表、人大常委会委员。曾任国际柑橘学会主席(2004-2008)、中国柑橘学会主席(1998-2009),成功组织召开了第11届国际柑橘学大会(2008,武汉),提升了我国柑橘产业的国际知名度。

他在我国率先建立了柑橘细胞工程育种体系,并开创了细胞工程用于生产实践的新途径;对我国柑橘资源进行了系统的分子评价,建立了世界上最大的柑橘离体材料库;发掘基因资源,构建起柑橘基因组学研究平台,带领团队完成了我国首个果树类型——甜橙双单倍体的全基因组测序;组织行业专家建立国家农业柑橘产业技术体系,牵头编制了国家以及部分主产区县的柑橘产业发展规划,对我国柑橘产业可持续健康发展起到了核心作用。

先后主持国家自然科学基金重点项目,国家‘863’、农业部科技攻关、农业部‘948’、农业部行业专项、国家移民局以及国家973计划等重大项目20余项,带领的华中农业大学柑橘研究团队先后荣获湖北省、教育部、国家基金委优秀创新群体和中华神农科技奖优秀创新团队。已取得国家及省部级成果奖20余项,主持完成的“柑橘优异种质资源发掘、创新与新品种选育与推广”和“柑橘提质增效栽培技术研发与示范”分别获国家科技进步二等奖(2006)和湖北省科技进步一等奖(2012)。先后指导博士研究生50余名,硕士研究生40余名,在国内外学术期刊上发表论文200余篇,指导的研究生3人荣获年度“全国百篇优秀博士论文”奖,1人获 “全国百篇优秀博士学位论文提名”,7人获 “湖北省优秀博士学位论文”。鉴于其对国际园艺科学研究的杰出贡献和重要学术影响,他荣获 “美国园艺学会国际杰出园艺学家奖”(2011)、国际柑橘学会会士(2012)、中华农业英才奖(2012)、何梁何利基金技术与进步奖(2013)等荣誉称号。
